Suggestions to help you maximise the effects from your subliminal tapes library

* Ensure that you have purchased the appropriate tapes for your situation and that you are not treating an effect rather than the cause. Seek informed, professional advice if necessary.

* The more relaxed you are the more quickly you will start to notice results. Stress inhibits the rate at which the subliminal suggestions can be absorbed and assimilated. Just as a computer can be slower to process information if it is overloaded with too much in memory or simultaneously working on other tasks so your subconscious mind will be less able to process the suggestions while it is being excessively occupied with stress, worry etc. Hence we suggest the use, in many cases of #21 Deep Relaxation, #3 Stress Control, #7 Overcoming Fear & Worry as adjuncts to any program (except programs #14).

* Listen to your tapes every day for at least one hour. The more you expose yourself to the waves the more quickly you will achieve results. If you miss out on playing your programs for one or more days make up for it by playing them for as many hours as you missed days.

* When you commence playing a new SCWL program you may notice an initial immediate response as the technique and messages have their first impact on a “virgin” subconscious. This generally subsides and the gradual, more subtle yet definite changes of a long term nature start to be noticed later. Generally allow 21 days.

* We recommend the use of an auto reverse Walkman portable type cassette player with headphones or a good quality sound system although the programs are recorded so that any tape recorder will do. Try to position yourself in the direct line of fire of the speakers, not to the side. Although lower frequencies can be relied upon to reach you wherever you are, some upper frequencies prefer to travel in a direct line straight ahead from the speakers.

* Many of the programs are designed to be enhanced and complemented by other programs (the Life Enrichment Series sets, Program Yourself for Success etc. are coordinated sets of programs designed to maximise your potential). This is a good reason to build up a good comprehensive Subliminal Personal Development Tape Library which you can use and re-use, year after year, lend out to friends (watch out you don’t lose them), have for the family to use etc. It is a permanent investment in yourself and we here at SCWL believe that an investment in yourself is the best investment you can make.

* Volume: you should be able to hear the waves comfortably - if the waves can be heard then the submerged messages under the more dominant waves are coming through. Do not worry that your conscious mind cannot hear or decipher the voices - they have been blended in at a third to two thirds of the volume of the waves and rise and fall with the waves. After numerous playings you may be able to pick the drone of the voices (like someone talking during a storm at sea), sibilants (s sounds) and fricatives (c and k sounds), cue tones, metronome beats, speeded up speech (4X) and perhaps even the monotone narrow frequency band compacted speech technique which sounds like a shortwave jammer.

* There is no need to rewind or go right through each side - you can pick up or leave off at any point - just switch on/off as required. You can listen for short bursts or play continuously for hours, the longer the better.

* Tapes may not last forever. Ensure that the heads of your player are clean as a build up of dirt, oxide (brown residue) etc. will muffle the clarity thus stifling the effectiveness and abrade more of the oxide off the tape. Do not leave the tapes in damp places e.g. on the floor during rainy weather or on the floor of your car. The increased humidity affects the binding capability of the oxide to the clear plastic tape backing and, with use, the brown oxide on the tape (which carries the messages) comes off on the heads of your tape recorder.

* Saving your tapes as masters by duplicating them and using the copies only will not work with compacted multi-frequency subliminals, unfortunately as the submerged messages reproduce with only 30% effectiveness, rendering them ineffective. The more dominant waves come out fine but they’re not what does the work. Therefore if making copies for friends always give them the original and keep the duplicate for yourself.

* Our programs are the only double sided, state of the art, multi frequency, compacted or saturated, subliminals available in Australia today (as opposed to the cheaper, dubious “backyard” light subliminals [under 1000 affirmations per tape] or “quartermeasures” [guided imagery one side only, talk on other side] both 1970’s technology, now superseded), there is no need to lie down or concentrate on the tape. If you are getting plenty of tape exposure each day you can be doing ordinary chores, reading, eating, talking etc. whilst the tape is on. Nevertheless, the more relaxed or the more you are in Alpha the more effectively the program can work.

* The conditioning of an entire lifetime is not going to be permanently changed in a few days or a few weeks - there is too much confirmed hardcore behavioural policy programming stored up over your entire lifetime, which got there by uncritical acceptance or by critical approval according to beliefs and values held at that time. Reprogramming takes time. Although the programs can take up to 90 days to be well underway, normally benefits will start to be felt after a couple of weeks, with some people sooner. Don’t expect miracles, just slow gradual, almost imperceptible but definite change without effort, will power or concentration. Change is not fast unless you’re very impressionable or very young.

* Programs should be used “within context”. E.g. you would not use the typing tapes and not touch typewrite for 90 days and then expect to be able to touch type; you would not use the Speed Reading tape without looking at a book for 90 days nor doing your exercises (side 2) and then expect to be able to read at 1000 wpm. Effective Speaking will not be able to have much effect if you are not putting yourself in situations where the brain can run (put into practice) the new programming. This same principle applies with most other programs.

* A strong determination for change should be held by the user. You do not have to believe the tape will work. Belief in the effectiveness of subliminal tapes is not required for results but a strongly determined desire is essential and continually visualising the way you’re going to be; the way you belong and even just are before you are (as if the current reality just isn’t right) is a good idea. A number of desensitisation exercises here can be a good idea, exercises where execute the lead up activity to your habit but don’t climax in the indulgence of your habit. This is best done either in the company of someone else or just after you have indulged and satisfied the urge and hence at that point don’t really have the craving to be satisfied.

* A subliminal program is really just reinforcement material to strengthen the will, to be able to achieve a new desired result or bring about a desired state, e.g. to relax, to be motivated, to eradicate habits, enhance abilities or change attitudes without effort, concentrate on gruelling will power. Reduction of stress plays a great part in achieving the desired result. Don’t try, relax.

* If a person does not desire a change, consciously or subconsciously, then a subliminal tape will possibly of negligible effect. A subliminal tape cannot work against a person’s will or be used to influence a person’s beliefs without their acquiescence. In the early stages it may even irritate as it confronts and conflicts with established, ingrained, fundamental beliefs and conditioning. Very occasionally this can result in headaches and nausea as the process of change is tackled head on and old neuron patterns and pathways are being challenged, something a person would not put up with for long unless they were extremely desirous of the change. Such a result obviously indicates that the battle is on and the tape is at work. If it becomes too much to handle leave the tape a few days and then start again (perhaps seek professional advice, if you wish). Each subsequent exposure should be less stressful but it must be noted that a negative reaction is not common. Usually change will be very subtle and natural, even initially imperceptible. In some cases those around you may comment on changes before you become aware of them.

* The changes are of a permanent nature, however future traumatic events may put a strain on your emotions and under pressure may reactivate old primitive dormant behavioural patterns which had been “switched off” and you may revert to old comforting habits like smoking, overeating etc. Simply commence using the program again. For this reason it is a good idea to store your tape away somewhere safe when you have achieved your desired result. It is like an insurance policy, don’t give it away, you just may need it again one day. Keep it in your tape library.

* Stop smoking: if you feel the need for a cigarette have one, do not fight the urge, just play the tape every day and keep visualising yourself the way you want to be and are going to be an how you should be. The change may be gradual or sudden. Keep playing the tape until you do not feel like any more cigarettes, then continue to play the tape every day for a further three weeks.

* Weight Loss and Appetite Control: play the tape daily until you reach your proper desired weight. Then switch to the Maintaining Your Ideal Weight tape (#74) for a minimum of four weeks. It is part of a set.

* Write down your goal, that you want the playing of this tape to achieve - make it an exact goal with an overt, identifiable destination point, written in first person and present tense. Underline the important parts, e.g. I am 55 kg, people tell me I am confident or I earn $1000.00 p.w. The difficulty you may encounter as your conditioned mind fights/reacts and tells you how stupid this small act is will indicate to you how threatened the previous conditioning is and it’s concern that an uncomfortable threat of change has come. Try it, write it on 10 small pieces of paper and put them where you will see them, in your wallet, on your steering wheel, handbag, in the sugar, in your compact, in unguarded moments your eyes will see them and they can slip through the conscious defences. The fact that you have not written down your goal may be the mind’s final defence against change and make it take longer.

* A subliminal tape can be more effective if you don’t know which tape you are playing. Try mixing up the playing order of the subliminials you are currently working on, don’t look at which tape it is as you are putting it in your player, skip the 10 second spoken verification of which tape it is and play your tapes. The conscious mind will then not even know what to block as the conscious mind would need to know which tape it is and all tapes sound the same. Another idea is to have someone else select and play your tapes to you for you. Just as you can enjoy your records more when someone else is selecting and playing them (providing you trust them).

* It has been noted that another determinant of quality in results obtained in using our programs can be the mood you are in at the time for a minority of people. Some people who are in a rotten mood at the time may find that the results are not what they could be if they used the programs at other more peaceful and happier times. A program will be more effective when you are in a positive, keen mood rather than feeling morose. A subliminal can encounter deeper latent moods or resident expectations and can conflict (resulting in headaches, nausea, irritation). If this occurs, then leave it a while. With each subsequent exposure unpleasant responses will be mitigated. If this occurs desensitise yourself with 2-5 minute doses per day and build up.

* Analytical people may find it takes longer to achieve results than more impressionable, suggestible people. Analytical people tend to have built up defences with which they greet the world and all impressions coming in must first go through a set of rational logical filters. However this subsides as generally, with each exposure to a stimulation, a boredom factor eventually sets in and the analytical process gives way to critical acceptance and with enough desensitisation to a post critical, passive acceptance (brainwashing, which can be either a positive or negative experience) providing it is in accord with your values and desires.

* How often should you play the tapes?
We would like to suggest, if practicable, that you should consider in the early days playing your tapes as much as 5-10 times per day for the first few days, 3-5 times per day for the next week, 1-3 times per day for the next week and then daily for the next 90 days without a break. You should also repeat playing your tapes periodically, say 2 or 3 times every year for 3-4 weeks to refresh and renew the advances you have made. In the months after your initial playing for some weeks it may indeed be likely that previous conditioning may either, under stress or just with the passage of time, begin to reassert itself - although in either a modified or weaker form. Once you become aware that some old behavioural patterns are reappearing it is time to give yourself another workout with the tapes to eradicate newly surfacing manifestations of old behavioural patterns to reconfirm your new reprogramming. Another cycle we would suggest to make good gains is to play the tapes for 21 days, then have a fallow period of 21 days off, 21 days on, 21 days off, and so on. Keep repeating this cycle for some months. This could be a part of a larger cycle of 6 months on, 6 months off, 6 months on, 6 months off etc. Tapes should be used for not just 90 days, but on and off for years.
